Thanks everyone for the kind remarks. As Lez mentioned, counting my late arrival, a grand total of three E31's showed up for O'fest. As I was pulling into the field for the Concours, the owner of the yellow 850Ci that Lez mentioned walked along side my car and we chatted as the line of cars creeped onto the Zentrum field.
Story on the yellow car is that it is from Canada, and the owner had been in an accident with it and decided to have the entire car professionally repainted from black to Dakar II (the bright yellow M3 color). I have to agree with Lez: it was a bit much, but nonetheless interesting to view.
I entered the Super Clean category out of sheer madness. It includes interior, exterior, trunk and engine compartment. I had three of the four in pretty presentable condition, but after about 46,000 miles, my engine compartment would need hours and a large variety of flexible, long shafted mega Q-tips to reach all of the crevices, nooks and crannies where my grubby hands can't reach. I respect those entrants who sport immaculate engine bays, because I now have a better appreciation of how much time was invested in getting the engine compartment to that point.
Maybe Lez has some better pics, but here's one I took after some of the nearby cars had left after the concours was over. The event was well organized and there were plenty of great looking cars there to admire.
