I agree. If I want to save gas, I drive the little 4-cylinder and leave the 8 in the garage. If I really wanted to save 20 cents a gallon on gas, I would move to LA. Then I could smell the air and see it as well. If I were truly the the thrifty sort, I sure as hell wouldn't be driving an 850!! I'd live life miserably and own a Saturn!!
It may cost a little more to live in "America's finest city" but it is worth it. My mileage varies depending on the city/highway mix. I average 14mpg with the Dinan chips, intakes and exhaust. Perhaps you do a little more city driving tha I do and the gearing has something to do with it too.

Greg,
When I'm paying attention I notice some of the same thing your talking about with LA prices vs San Diego etc. or everywhere compared to LA. However, I purposely don't pay attention as my 91 CalypsoRed 850i with chips and Dinana lower rear gears only gets about 8 to 11 MPG according to my OBC and since I don't want to feel depressed about anything concerning my experience with the car I purposely don't watch how much it costs nor figure mileage nor count how often I fill up. I feel much better as a result keeping my attention only on the driving experience. :-) Kurt
