Some other 8-owner posted some article numbers of armrests on the E31 mailinglist (can't find them right now).
There were several numbers, probably to identify the leather color.
This option is no longer in the current partslist (I checked with my dealer).
But at least it seems that a factory armrest exists...

It always amazes me that even the dealers don't really seem to know these cars...

The operative word is "existed", I think. And I have all the part numbers, Marco....I got them from a '99 BMW European Parts CD, and it shows them as discontinued at that time.....equally interesting is that I had a guy from Germany call the factory in Munich last week, and they told him that it was an US option only......

If you email me, I'll be happy to send you the picture of the factory armrest.....
