They are $185 per side plus installation. Several list members have had them replaced for $500 at the dealer. It appears that window longevity is dependent upon: (1) Correct window allignment settings, (2) gummi flege or other lubrication of seals, and IMHO (3)not rolling the rear windows up at high speed (wind pressure).

Does anyone know the procedure for the seal replacement? Specifically if the ceiling pan needs to be removed. The e31 technical manual doesn't have a procedure.

Steve there is some information in the archives which suggests this is an issue. On my car I find that under extreme weather conditions (heavy rain and high winds) the passenger side seal leaks and it looks like it has started to tear.

One to live with I think. Any idea how much it would have cost if you had to pay?
