Hi Dave,
Another repair I haven't done yet, but it can't be that hard??? or?? :-) I think I am going to do it regardless of the need as soon as I get back, so I'm anxious to know about the nut and the fan as well. You may remember my car got hot while driving hard in the desert on a 120 degree day with the A/C on. It then went right back down to the safe area when I turned the A/C off....I know, I know, what do I expect of any car, but better be safe than sorry. I would also be interested to know when you finally get yours off what the mating surfaces are like? Are they clean and well machined with no corrosion or do they have corrosion requiring some fileing and use of special sealers?? Also, what is the take on using a Thermostat that is 10 degrees cooler? I always do that in any car and have never had a problem (example V12 Jags), Many say you shouldn't but I only have good luck when I do.....but I wonder if they are even available for the E31 in varying degrees? Interesting stuff. Hopefully one of the guys out there has done this and researched it as well. I'll be watching.
Kurt
