My Condolences, I get scared just trying to imagine what you are going through. But gathering sensibility, I would insist that the car be fixed "properly" and put back 'only' into the shape it was, meaning complete paint job so it matches perfectly, new everything etc. etc. Then of course it would be incredible if they actually totaled the car because then you could buy it back, Or let me buy it back :-) because you almost always with a good insurance company, get over blue book for your car. I have state Farm and that is usually the policy I have found there. That way you could buy a new car and have a parts car. Would that be heaven!!!

I will leave you with this parting shot, Please try to calm down, don't feel bad, actually you were very lucky, you could have been hurt or killed or worse. The situation is a very good one for you as far as the car goes no matter how it plays as long as you insist on it being repaired to the quality it was before. How lucky you are that things wearn't much worse.

My last advice would be to make sure your at the BMW dealer with the car when the adjuster comes. Insist from the beginning to have it fixed and fixed to the same quality (redundant) and I hope for you is that they total the car and you get a new one and end up with the parts car for about $5,000 more or less. Incredible.
