Glad to hear you are OK. As everyone has said and agrees to, that's what is important. But regarding the repair of your car, I'd like to add one more factor to think about. Coming from a guy that has "totaled" 5+ cars, 2 that where repaired and 3 that where junked, no matter how good the repair shop the car is never the same... Even if it's technically perfect, you'll start to hear stuff, squeaks and thumps that you swear where not there before... It's all in the head...:)
There is also the factor that if you ever sell the car, they will find out that the car has had a shunt. Your car value will take a hit (Sorry for the use of words). So I guess what I'm saying is if you don't feel comfortable with waiting maybe 6+months for a repair and the overall loss in value, push hard for a write off. If you have room to store the wreck, you might consider parting it out as you said. I did that with both of mine, and with the insurance money plus parts money, I made more on the car then the retail value was. Do you have any pics of the damage?
Regards
Carl
