well one of the advantage to have a body on frame design is the repair. Even if you bent a sh.. out of the car you replace a frame and install all the panels and new as before. Not so much on our cars... if the unibody gets bented then you have to pull it out and replace the supports and sub-frame. This is comlicated and cost effective because it needs a brain. Anything in the USA that needs more brain then moving your hand from left to right cost you a lot of money. You say the only way to tell your truck was damaged is the different color and body panels aren't in line... well those are the ONLY ways to tell ! That is THE PROBLEM ! the paint should match ... you don't even need a lot of brain if you use computerized paint mixer, just type in the color code, the age and the quantity.
The panel match is also easy if you use OEM panels. Aftermarket panels are half the price and half as correct fitment. for this you need a valet and a little hand to put those in line.
I hate when a car is damaged and the body shop is making a repair and makes a cheap quality work. Nobody does cheap work only expensive - good expansive (very rare) and bad expensive (mostly)
The body work needs time no matter how good is the guy he needs a lot of time to make it look good. I've seen cars with so much damage you could barely identify the car and 2 months later it looked like new. They did not let the car sat in the warehouse but worked on it almost every single day. Each fender install + aligment takes about 3-4 hours if you want it correct.
My experience - don't fix it sell it as a part...
you save yourself a lot of headache and time...
