Door hinges (sp?) stopped locking (archive)

First, when the passenger side front window is down, it start rattling... like something is loose inside. So, I began tapping on it and sure enough something is loose... don't know what, but I figure I'll pull it off and test...

Second, to compare the doors, I tapped on the driver's door... no rattling there... BUT after a few times that something was different. It kept closing on me. Push it all the way open and it just shuts. Those two little stages where the door is ajar but stays in that place... I have no idea what you call them... just disappeared! If you let go of the door, it just closes... no "notch" as you push through it! What the ??????

This, as I was trying to figure the rattling sound. What do you call those stages in the door where it semi-locks and holds the door open? Whatever it is, it flat out left right in front of my eyes. Did a groove in one of the hinge bolts just wear off?
