Now you're thinking!! Undoubtedly, the remaining supply of E31 parts would cost more than the cars!!!

so odd that you say that, as I was just contemplating this Friday. Thinking of a large parking garage too.

The odd thing is that you could make money on it. If you literally collected all these cheap 850s and drained the market, they'd of course be harder to obtain. Supply and demand. Suddenly the only place to get one (one nicely maintained and restored to boot) would be Kurt G's 850 house. It would be the only option. Starting prices would be much higher.

I went on to wonder about the collective incomes of the member's on this board and thought absolutely for SURE it would be possible if their was a way to combine that strenght. How many 850s in the US. Was is 2500? No matter... its a small figure considering the production volume of other high cars. So, lets say we drained the market and paid $15,000 for 1000 850s found in the next 3-5 years. That's a total cost of 15,000,000 in crazy E31 inventory. If you managed to find 100 850 nuts willing to contribute at a price of $150,000, you'd essentially have an exlusive group of contributing partners owning the majority of 850s in the US.

Yup, nuts. But if it were a limited partnership and the contribution amount was flexible (e.g. shares of stock in this company), you could actively and obsessively pluck the cars up one by one from the general public and make money in resale a few years from now when none were to be found... anywhere but Kurt G's garage...

While you're at it, we should contact BMW USA and give them a bulk bid on their entire remaining inventory of E31 parts. We'd be the only stock supplier of parts for the car too, and could save a fortune on restoration of the 1000 or so we buy to start this cult!

:)
