Hi,

Use the 9005 /9006 PIAA super whites for the two bulbs. They are the comparable numbers.

I have them installed in my 850i and they are great.

One of these days I want to switch to the 100w super whites. However that will require a relay to be installed...... maybe a winter project.

I have the BMW manuals but I couldn't figure out the graphic for the vertical headlight adjustment until I read about people with "loose" headlights. I realized that the looseness was associated with the spring loaded positioners and the knob on top just needed the right sized allen wrench and the adjustment went smoothly. :-)

Now I read that the retractable headlights (low, fog, and high) use H1, 55 Watt bulbs. I pulled one out of my '91 850i and it said 9006. I went to my local import store and he said that the H1 and the 9006 are completely different bulbs. I thought I wanted to upgrade to PIAA H1s. Can anyone recommend a high performance direct replacement bulb for the 9006...and maybe explain why the book says H1 yet the car has 9006s?
