I'm a OEM type of buy but not original guy. So I'd modifiy my car with BMW parts and make it better in every way. I'd also drive my car no matter what... I don't care how much is it worth or how much I love it, that is the idea of having a car. Besides if you don't drive it now, you might never drive it again... so yes you are right the CSI is more driveable, but I'm crazy enough to drive an M1 as well. May not be as much fun, but still a fun...
CSI values - I was suprised to find that you are right ! The germans have selling 93-95 850CSI's for less then we could buy a 850Ci ! less then 30k USD could buy you a decent CSI (1993-1994) Try to buy a Ci with manual in the US under 30k USD.
