Did I understand you right that you didn't know what the DK motors do? If so here it is, DK Motor are basically the throttle flap actuator. They are stepper motors that controlled by your gas pedal. The added bonus of this fly by wire system is that it integrates very nicely with the ASC system without having to use ignition timing schemes to reduce power. The main problem with the system seems to be that the fail around 100000km. But I've also hear of cars with 300000km that still have the original DK's.
Limp mode is another benefit of the system. As the V12 is basically 2 6's put together with individual EML's for each bank and a separate sync unit to make sure they are in sync, you have the possibility of running one engine at a time. Limp mode can be initiated due to
- Fuel pressure failure on the bank
- Spark plug failure
- Spark plug cable failure
- DK motor failure / stuck
- Sensor failure Timing/air/+++
