Some guys have faced DK motor problems on the 750's and they are swappable from side to side but you have to know in advance which side of the engine is working prior to the swap to see the results afterward. One good way to know which bank your on is disconnect 12V input wire to the coil for one bank and then the other. One way the car will stop altogether and the other way it will be limping still.

Hi Carl,
Ok, thats what I thought they might be. I know exactly where they are. My car has one new one and the other is original. Car runs great. But, when and if it starts to limp home, there must be a test to tell us whether or not either one of the DKs is not working. Some electrical test or?? without the diagnostic machine. Must be. Worth looking for, also one for the Cam pulse sensors that Stan talks about. Where are they?
Now were getting down to it :-)
Thanks, Kurt

Hi Kurt

The DK motors are located at the front of each intake manifold. It's a "big" unit with a electric connector. I can't walk out to the garage and give you a better description as I still don't own one yet...:( Also the DK motor on the left side of the engine room is actually for the right bank. The intake manifold is very long and are crossed. There really isn’t any diagnostics you can do to the DKs, they work or they don't. On a preventive maintenance they can be cleaned though to prevent sticking and a potential failure due to this. I think it was Stan or Steve who mentioned a good method of cleaning these.

I also find it amusing that this technology from the 750i & 850i has finally worked it's way down to the 3 series, as did ASC+T, window sealing, DSC, +++

Regards
Carl
