Hey Stan:

I agree with you that it is something mysterious indeed. I am trusting however that you are all ready aware that when you turn our cars completely in either direction all the way to the end of the turn on the wheel (at least mine) as with most cars it will make strange noises and produce vibrations. I have always known that it is a characteristic of the power steering process, while never understanding why exactly.

The interesting thing about noises and vibrations is that in at least half the instances the the noise or vibration can be carried through the car to seem to emit in an actually unrelated area of the car. Sometimes very misleading.

I would test it by having at least two other guys or gals there with you and starting the car and with the doors open and the hood open, turn hard to the end in each turning direction and slowly move the car and listen to see what is happening everywhere as far as noise and vibration is concerned. The person on the passenger side can bend way over and look and listen under the passenger side, as you can do on the drivers side and the person outside can listen under the hood and all around the car. Try to do this on an incline as well as straight level ground. Perhaps you can then more exactly pinpoint the area of original noise and vibration.
Good Luck, Kurt
