Since it is a code of the driver's preference the dealer will not know it.
If you should put a code in and then punch in the incorrect code 3xs the alarm will start to sound.
The engine will not start and the lights will start blinking. This will go on for a minute or two.
There is a method of reseting the alarm to off.
-Open the trunk.
-Disconnect the battery ground. (left side, rear)
-Wait 1 hour (actually the factory states a little less, but I always give a bit more so I do not have to wait a longer period of time.)
-Reconnect battery gound
-The OBC will begin a 15 minute count down.
- when the count down is over turn the key and the engine will start.
-Having been through this twice.... both by accident...... you become very careful about which code you input. Check the code after input by repeating the code to yourself before pushing the set button.
This reminds me of the neumonic device when we were flying amphibians. Before landing we would recite:
"This is a water landing.... the wheels are up"
"This is a land landing.... the wheels are down"
Worked every time........
BTW the reset proceedure is in the manual... tucked away...very hard to find near the back.
