Arbi,

Welcome to the board!!

I was in the same spot as you a few months back. My first color choice was Mauritius Blue. I actually saw Justin Glatz' and considered buying it but always had this voice in the back of my head telling me to stay away from the gray market cars. Stan C's car is beautiful too.

However, the longer I looked the more I understood that the condition of the car and the documentation such as service records (CarFax included) were more important than interior and exterior color. I had a couple of colors that I would not own, but anything else was open. Also, if you keep yourself open as far as location, you can open a lot of doors too. If you plan on keeping the car for a while, a $300-$400 plane flight to almost anywhere in the US is nothing. Just imagine the drive back in your new E31!! Look on the Internet under www.autotrader.com. There are typically 20-30 8 series for sale at any given time. Remember these things are like horses. The best ones have a pedigree and the one's that don't may turn out to be a nag.

Greetings,

Well, I just sold my last American car, and am finally ready to invest in a real vehicle. Although I've always wanted a BMW...I never could afford one before. My closest call was when I almost bought an E28, but it never materialzed.

In anycase, I think I'm ready to take the plunge and get an E31 of my own to drool over.

What should I know about the models and years?
My initial inclination was to get an 1995 840Ci, to decrease the cost, however, any input would be greately appreciated. (inluding refrence to sites/faqs).

My prefrence lies in the following, but not bound to them (in preference order):
Color : Blue, Black, Silver, White
Engine: 8Cyl, 12Cyl
Tranny: 6speed, 5 speed, Auto

Thanks in advance for all your input.

-arbi
