May and even early June can be iffy weatherwise here at the lake. The crowds don't get here until about July 4th. I would suggest the middle of June or the middle of September. Historically, the weather turns cold just about Labor Day, then warms up again by the September 15. I base this on 20 winters here....but who really knows? In my experience, the last two weeks of September through the middle of October usually brings fine weather. I have several great drives already in mind.

I'm easy either way and would leave it to your local knowledge to pick the best time. Haven't heard from any of the other guys, so don't know if it would be of interest to them or not.

If nothing develops, maybe we'd come down for a Bay Area 8's get together.
