If the car had high mileage, I would recommend replacing both DK's, but in this case you may get away with only one. It does seem odd that one would go after only 45K miles. It was previously posted to test the DK's by swapping them and see if the problem repeats on the other bank. Another thing to check with the cold start problem is the cam position sensors.

Regarding the light error message, this is usually due to a dirty contact in the bulb socket, or slight corrosion around the base of the bulb. Pull the bulbs and clean all the contacts and that should clear up the error.
