The BMW recommended sizes for those wheels on an 8 series is:

245/40-18 Front
285/35-18 Rear

This is what I run on my '91 850i with Bilstein Sport shocks and H&R Sport springs.

There will be no appreciable effect on the instruments of the car with this setup.
