I had asked the same question when I bought my '96 840ci about a month ago. I went with the same exact sizes that you mentioned on M parallels. It seems as though many others have used 245 front and 285 rear with no problems also.

Personally I'm very happy with my choice and did not see the need to put more tire under the car. The Pilot Sports are great tires, I've got them on all three cars.
