ifyou are driving very short trips...... to the store, etc. you will have much great er oil consumption than if you are a highway driver.

The reason being that the engine does not heat up on the short trips in order to "close" the clearances between the ring, cylinder walls. Also it might be that your valve guides and seals need to be looked at. $$$$$$$$

Hello Gentlemen,

I just picked up my first 850 recently, a black beauty indeed, in the Bay area. I noticed that its burning oil, a lot of oil. I just added a quart of oil and days later I had to do this again after driving along highway 1. Does anyone know if this is common and if not what I can do about this?
