At the present time there are six 8's that will be coming to the event. Let's see if we can break the Blackhawk "record" of 8's in one place at any one time on the west coast.
Takes place on the 3rd of March.
As you know harvesting season is over and grapes have been crushed and are fermenting. After the fermentation takes place the wine is then put into barrels for aging.
On the above weekend the wineries offer barrel tasting of all the new wines. You may also purchase futures on these wines at a much lower cost than they will be offered to the public upon bottling.
The trick is to be able to tell which wines will be great and which will be not so great. {;-))) However, it is a lot of fun.
I would like to invite the Bay Area 8's and any other 8's from out of the area, if you are interested, for a Potluck breakfast gathering before we leave for the barrel tasting, and a potluck BBQ at my home on Saturday the 3rd after the tasting trip.
