ASC is different from ASC+T. ASC will attempt to limit wheelspin by first retarding the ignition to instantaneously limit power to the rear wheels. Then, if that doesn't work, it will command the EML system to back off the throttles until it detects traction.

If you have ASC, that it as far as traction control goes.

The "T" component goes further and applies the brakes, if nececessary to an individual rear wheel, to re-establish traction. Much more complete traction control system, in my estimation.

My experience has been ASC cuts in at pretty extreme situations, i.e., fast 60 MPH sweepers with gravel at the apex, or very slippery roads.

I seriously doubt it affects mileage, but it may bias the EML "pedal gain" to forestall wheelspin. Throttle response definitely feels crisper with it off, kinda like the CSi's S/K EML gain switch.
