Use of LEDs on newer cars. (archive)

I recently had the opportunity of driving some of the newer bimmers. The 330ci and the X5. One thing that stood out was the use of amber LEDs in various places that gives the cars a very rich feel. They have them on the inside doorhandle recesses. They have two near the map light which cast a very slight amber "mood lighting" on your console and gear shift lever.

Has anyone else noticed these?
