Thanks, I've been thinking along the same lines, and when at the dealer, we found a dusty roof rack from a 5? 7? series, but the 8 appears to be about 3/4" wider across the roof, so I'd have to find longer rails. I may go ahead and get them, and see if I can fabricate new rails, but it appears that the 8 has the widest roof line and the rails are a custom profile aluminum extrusion. I'm trying to exhaust other avenues at the moment, but may have to do just this.

Does anyone have confirmation that the roof rail mounting system is the same across models? We didn't try the one at the dealer.
