First thanks to all of you, I asked for advice about a sivler 96 850 about 2 weeks ago. I bought the car from Hendrick BMW in Charlotte, NC. I told the used car sales manager that I had some concerns about buying rare car without having it checked over by an outside source. He understood and offered to do whatever it took to make me happy. That impressed me. He then offered to have his top mechanic go over the car and talk with me about it. I agreed and told the mechanic to go through it "like it was your car." He did and found some things that weren't caught the first time. Bottom line: the dealer is installing a new catalytic converter, air freighted directly from Germany, has recalibrated the steering box, rebalanced improperly balanced new tires and done some other things, all without charge to me. We hear a lot about bad dealers, I thought it only fair to highlight one dealer that is trying to do the right thing. I have no connection with this dealer, except that this is the third car I'm buying from him.
