Hi Steve,
Your right, Randy just made a stupid mistake, we all do from time to time, I think he even apologized for it, live and learn as they say.
However, 'maybe' is a moment inbetween actually knowing and having no idea at all. I suppose we can have fairly definite leanings one way or the other, but as the old saying goes...'guess you had to be there at the moment or it all must remain as you say...'maybe'...at least to making a judgment in thought or discourse.
Once there at the time, most people simply reacted, like Stan said, we should think........
Well, I would guess that you were doing what you thought was proper when you all of a sudden scrapped your wheels on the curb (kerb), sort of the way it happens, like when you catch your D__K in your zipper :-). I would imagine that we all reacted spontaneously with the Randy thing, including Randy who may think twice about it next time. Who said that lynch mobs were extinct? Perhaps not right, nor pretty, but certainly not extinct. One of those other things your supposed to learn 'not' to do once bereft of puberty! It seems that choices do remain after all subjective don't they, I think thats the point in this case.
I am curious however :-) about the "sight of a dusky young maiden attractive whilst secreting oneself under the sheets with a torch"......This must be an English thing...:-)...hehe, how the hell do you secret yourself under a sheet with a torch without being discovered?? :-) Or is the torch a metaphore for an inner light being carried around in an outward fashion? Then of course..I'm still curious about the secreting and the sighting? Oh well, we know the secret is no longer a secret once the torch is presented.......right?? Well,
As far as the references to puberty goes....we do all come from a point of inconsiderate callowness which is nothing more than not knowing the rules, what ever they may be...so the reference or reminder (in this case to Randy) is as much to him who is walking around with spinach on his teeth or his fly wide open or the brown stained toilet paper trailing from his shoe as he stumbles from the bathroom...as much as it is to remind the rest of us gleefully what we have evolved from 'Thank God'!!
Perhaps Randy was just simply caught in the wrong place at the wrong time using the wrong language, with the wrong intentions whilst peddling a sweet fruit which everyone loves. 'Caught with your pants down, caught with your hand in the cookie jar, The table cloth caught in your zipper when you leave the table in a hurry, slipping on the proverbial bannana, worst of all bad breath when it should truly be lust', but it's all OK because the pictures are of pretty girls........Naaaawww!
Regardless of the love of fruit, the indescretion or 'idiot' will always be identified and reacted to by all witnesses who have wallowed at one time or another in the same crap, simply from the appreciation of knowing we will hopefully 'never be that dumb again'........ at least hopefully not from the laws of cause and effect or motivation reaction unless we once again become a mass of dolts in puberty with no intelligent opinions, no experienced feelings, no proven creativity, no territorial bounds and no tendencies for and the love of friendship, comradeship and common interests. Fortunately or unfortunately, as the case may be, those kind of dolts don't reside or post here on this board with frequency or success. It's the 'mostly' feeling, understanding, helpful, genuine, creative, friendly, interested in comradeship types that somehow end up here. Water does find it's own level, no matter what the container you place it in.
Unfortunately for the thoughtless, selfish and inconsiderate of mind and action that show up on this board from time to time, this is a very tight and loyal non-group. What you are missing at the moment Steve is that it is also a very understanding and lenient group that will bend every which way to help others and be tolerent of misunderstanding or ignorance in all areas, but! .......in response to a blatant attack upon any one of the unnamed yet deserving non-crew, including you for sure, the support and loyalty to arms will be quite amazing and resolute.
It is not written down, it is not chisled in stone, it is a recognition and a surprising intense fealty to the idea of helping others, plain and simple, that is the common thread that weaves and binds this group. I am even more amazed as time goes by that this mysterious connection of this certain type of man has not grown temporary or fickle in it's main and unspoken theme and in fact has seemed to grow and become if anything even more tolerent and understanding with it's strength in numbers.
I truly do not belong to web site groups of any kind for more than the time necessary to attain what I need or require. Here I have been retained by the realization of a unique and growing phenomenon that has risen among a group of unassociated and unacquainted gentleman who have chosen for some unknown reason to take a different and elegant stand from other similar groups, simply for the purpose of helping each other to enjoy and survive the ownership of one of the worlds most incredible automotive machines.
The help and understanding seems to be the one rule, the guiding force behind it all! The unspoken rule, "You must be a very helpful and understanding person to remain" Amazing.....in a group without membership! Interesting.
So, back to reality, an attack upon any one of the non-crew or unspoken non-members is truly in essence an attack upon the idea and the reality of this unique comraderie of giving. I'm afraid it might be considered naive to imagine that any such attack would 'not' be met with angry growls from deep within the chest and jowels of each animal and from deep within the heart of the cave. I know, it's all very interesting isn't it.

Steve's prior message:
Hi Guys
Ive also been away for a few days on business...scraped the alloys on a kerb but thats another story!
I've read with great interest the comments on both sides re the pictures submitted by Randy and the follow up afterwards and wonder if I'm actually missing something. I also saw the e mail to Stan, who I am sure is big enough to look after himself. It all reminds me of the school playground mentality where the 'group' members join forces to rub dirt in the weaker kids face. Come on lets all cast our minds back a few years before the onset of middle age. I expect more than one of us found the sight of a dusky young maiden attractive whilst secreting oneself under the sheets with a torch. As you all said it isn't the photos that were upsetting or perhaps the 'bar' humour [apologies for the u] but the message to Stan. We're all big boys. We drive a car that for years was slagged off by the trade and press alike but have come to love it as much as our friends on the E30 board love their motors too. The references to puberty and the like don't really help the cause as again, if you cast your minds back I expect we all indulged in pretty similar behaviour.
By the way why do you guys always refer to 'imports' as being the Japanese types? Besides the Z3 and now that dreadful X5 I cant think of many other BMW's that weren't imported unless you happen to live in Germany!
All the best and chill!!!
Steve
99 840 but wondering if I should get the hell out of it and get another e30!!!
