Meanwhile, I'm fighting my ticket, I have arranged a trial by declaration with the court that may (very slight chance) dismiss my ticket, once I provide proof of the incorrect speedo reading in my car and provide proof of the speed of the surrounding traffic and the safety of speed at 1:30 in the am on a 4 lane freeway with no traffic. The key issue here is that if I don't like the result of the trial by written declaration I can then choose instead to have a trial by court as well, using an expensive attorney who will have connections hopefully, if that doesn't work then I can always take traffic school over the internet to keep the ticket off my record.
I wouldn't go to this much trouble usually over something I can just take traffic school on, but I truly didn't deserve the ticket, it was a needless speed trap on Xmas morning with no traffic on a dry 4 lane freeway and my speedo is actually not correct saying I am going much slower than in reality. So, for those reasons as well as trying to keep that extra safety traffic school ticket under my belt is to me a smart decision considering how easy it is to get a ticket in an 850. Meanwhile, I am driving like Grandpa and being such a line watching perfectionist that my friends are looking askanse at me as we drive!
I will truly welcome any final working Valentine or similar unit that will actually be quicker than the patrols radar. Thanks for all the input and research.
Thanks again, Kurt
I have tried to find an inconspicuous place near the windshield to no avail. So here is another solution and I invite your comments.
This installation requires the plug-in unit to be equipped with a three to four foot flexible gooseneck, as comes with map reading lights, and and a mounting device for the detector on top. The unit could then be bent forwards towards the dashboard for direct reading. A more concealed place would be between the seats at headrestraint height. The concealed read devive could then be mounted on the steering column. In both cases, if necessary, it could easily be moved out of sight. Should there be interest in this solution I will contact Valentine to see if they would be willing to manufacture gooseneck adaptors for the unit for those who are interested. Please let me know.
Regards to all.
