Hi Wwel, I had a '94 740i and the cruise control went out. Look to see if your brake lights stay on with the car running and in park. If so, it is just a brake light switch which when it fails it tells the cruise control that the brakes are on. Cost me about $40 to have my mechanic to fix it, which unless you have taken the dash pieces off I would recommend someone who knows how they come apart to take care of it for you.

I have worked on many a cruise control, but I have never even taken a look at the 8 series, I hope someone else has because I also would like to know the true skinny on this one.
