2. The two temperature controls and fan speed rollers aren't backlit. I asked the dealer if it could be fixed and he said I would need to buy a whole new unit since the bulbs are soldered to the circuit board. What else is new! Mechanics should be called replacers because they really don't fix anything they just replace everything. Argh! Anyhow, I read on the board that the back-light can be replaced. I believe this, but I can't get a hold of the OEM-tinted bulb that would fit. Does anyone know where I can order the correct replacement bulb or worse case scenario, order the right circuit board with the lights already installed?
3. I was wondering if the Canadian 850s have glass instead of plastic pop-up light covers, because I'm worried that the 100 watt bulbs I installed for the high beams might melt the cover. Just trying to prevent a thirty dollar upgrade from being a $2000 mistake.
3. I'd like to get the best bulbs short of buying a Xenon system for the front lights. I heard something about H5s and H7s being great, but I don't know where to order them from. Would that upgrade be worthwhile from 100watt super-white high-beams?
4. I've seen in many pictures that the fog lights and standard lights can be illuminated at the same time, however only one or other can be activated on my car, not both. Is this some sort of Canadian spec or am I doing something wrong?
5. I read on the board about a procedure that involved cleaning the connections for the LCD on the OBC. I was wondering if anyone has successfully accomplished this as I am considering performing the operation rather than you guessed it, replacing the whole unit.
(I can't imagine what a hassle the LCDs on the (E38) are going to be when the cars age. They're about 7 of them in each car and they are sure to make their owners crazy after five years.)
