* It should be a small bulb, cost about 78cents, and don't even have to pull the panel off, the switch pops out ! *
2. The two temperature controls and fan speed rollers aren't backlit. I asked the dealer if it could be fixed and he said I would need to buy a whole new unit since the bulbs are soldered to the circuit board. What else is new! Mechanics should be called replacers because they really don't fix anything they just replace everything. Argh! Anyhow, I read on the board that the back-light can be replaced. I believe this, but I can't get a hold of the OEM-tinted bulb that would fit. Does anyone know where I can order the correct replacement bulb or worse case scenario, order the right circuit board with the lights already installed?
* I haven;t done that, but I dount the bulbs are soldered in. besides if it is soldered in, what's a big deal ? Just solder it out and put new ones back ! Human build the new ones too so we humans can fix them too!
3. I was wondering if the Canadian 850s have glass instead of plastic pop-up light covers, because I'm worried that the 100 watt bulbs I installed for the high beams might melt the cover. Just trying to prevent a thirty dollar upgrade from being a $2000 mistake.
* I have 100W high beams and 85W low beams. That's as far as you wanna go ! It could melt the socket not the lens !!! The lens is protected by the ellopsoid lens (glass) but the socket is a real cheap plastic which would melt !
3. I'd like to get the best bulbs short of buying a Xenon system for the front lights. I heard something about H5s and H7s being great, but I don't know where to order them from. Would that upgrade be worthwhile from 100watt super-white high-beams?
4. I've seen in many pictures that the fog lights and standard lights can be illuminated at the same time, however only one or other can be activated on my car, not both. Is this some sort of Canadian spec or am I doing something wrong?
Nope, US fog lights works with the low beam, and not with the high beam. Nowhere it should work with a high beam ! what for ? When you are in fog, the high beam makes the driving impossible ! You really shouldn't be driving with your fog light on unless there is fog. Make the regular lights better and no need for those nasty fog lights ! This must be a US things, I've seen many cars with fog lights on, in Florida !!! It is illegal in europe and you get a fine for this ! Also no foglights in city ever ! Even in a nasty smokey fog !
5. I read on the board about a procedure that involved cleaning the connections for the LCD on the OBC. I was wondering if anyone has successfully accomplished this as I am considering performing the operation rather than you guessed it, replacing the whole unit.
*haven't tried that. But it isn't a bad connection problem ! The LCD burns out as people touches the screen and causing it to heat up with the greasy fingers! Do not touch the screen even, and they last a long time then !
