Folks,
I certainly agree that you can't get a better detector than Valentine. However, if you opt for a "2nd" best detector, the Passport Cordless units are a good alternative. The best thing about them is that you can just take them from car to car, set them up or hide them in seconds. The bad thing is that you won't get all the features and sensitivity, and you have to change batteries often. I have one of the original Passport cordless models in one car (and frankly, although only X and K bands, it was the best of the bunch - aluminum case, 9V battery, small enough to really fit in a shirt pocket). I have an older Solo in the 850, and have been mostly pleased with it, although the plastic shell doesn't like sitting in the sun too long, and it goes through AA batteries pretty fast, and the autopower off is too long. But with no cord to worry about, it's a fairly painless alternative. The cordless have their drawbacks, so don't expect as good a coverage as you'll get with a properly installed Valentine system.

Anyway, MHOFWIW (My humble opinion for what its worth) :-)

Happy day to all.... we're off to go shopping in the rain and hailstorms (Hail, you say? In sunny California? Yep! Not quite as bad as you folks back East are sufferin' through, but it's been cold out here, and it's wonderful to have heated seats in the beast).
