I left my 8 out in the cold for two days (-10^C) and it almost caught a cold. When I started it up, the engine was a lot less friction free than it always is. It was clearly shivering. Also the EML light stayed on along with the ABS light. This was a little concerning but I didn't panic because I was sure the car didn't just fall apart overnight.

Therefore, I kept my calm and let the car shake till it got up to temp. Than I turned it off, than back on again. Thankfully, the shaking completely stopped and the EML light went off. Somewhat relieved, I drove away, but noticed the ABS light wasn't going off. I pulled over, restarted the car and saw that it was still on. Being impatient I thought I would see if the system worked. So I accelerated to 70kph and slammed on the brakes. Amazing! The 4000 pound car almost stopped on a dime. But the light still wouldn't GO AWAY. Anyhow, frustrated and hungry, I picked up a pizza to GO and when I came back and started the car, the ABS light went off and STAYED OFF as it should. Sigh.

Has anyone experienced a similar phenomenon. Maybe this is why BMW didn't sell many of these cars to Russia. Than again, maybe not.
