Don't know if this is related but the only times I've had the ABS stay on is after going through our air care test here in BC. They use rear wheel dyno like rollers to take the car up to a simulated 30 mph. The ABS light is always on after that test and takes a few 'normal' stops to go out. I think it has something to do with the computer sensing that some of the wheels are turning while the others are stopped. Maybe you'd encounter a similiar situation on ice or snow if the rear wheels were spinning and the fronts weren't turning. If the roads were dry then I don't why the light stayed lit.
