Once again we see the misconception that Euro fuel has higher octane #s than U.S fuel. It ain't so guys: the difference in numbers is because Europe reports the higher number from the two systems used for octane ratings, while the U.S. reports the average of the two systems (a much better measure, by the way).

And now, shall we discuss fuel quality and why Europe was 15+ years behind us on the lead issue...? (And then there is Europe's love of diesel!...particulates here, particulates there...particulates everywhere!)
