- - Aras asked a question - he sounded quite anxious for an answer and I gave him one. Now I don't have a fridge in my 850, and I'm not about to run out and buy one tomorrow, but, in the interest of logic it seems we have to consider just what the 8 series really is.

You may have 5 computers at home Greg but you've got that many in your 8 as well. You've also got heated seats that are power adjustable 10 (or is it 12) different ways. Those seat motors are heavy - better turf them. The seat heater elements are not very heavy but they consume tons of electricity putting an extra load on the alternator and costing you HP. Heated mirrors, rear window and door locks just add to the load.

Air conditioning is a performance degrader and electric window motors are heavy and power gobblers - better go back to the good old winder uppers.

Between the Intensive cleaner, windshield washer and (here in Canada) the headlight cleaning system there are over 3 gallons of cleaning solution on board. That's about 30 pounds - why not just use the squeegee at the station when you stop for gas and a cold drink?

I agree that TV screens in the back of the headrests is over the limit. Who the heck is going to watch them - do some people actually squeeze real living, breathing humans in back there?? I see the 8 Series as a very comfortable high speed autobahn cruiser. If some people want to make it jack rabbit fast off the line then are a ton (well, almost) of creature comfort items than need to be eliminated. If it's to be driven as intended then I really don't think the fridge is going to make a heck of a difference in over 100 mph performance.

I guess when all is said and done the first aid kit in the slot back there is more important (potentially) than the fridge and is more in keeping with my no eating or drinking in the car philosophy.
