I see that there's another JimG in the club Welcome! If you were on the board before me... Welcome back! My nickname everywhere else is winojim so... this JimG with the 93 Euro 850CI is now WINOJIM. I do agree that it is one of the best European cars ever built. I think that there's no electronic governor in mine. In the "Sport" mode... this car is definitely doing better than a 6.2 from 0 to 60. I got the stop watch at 5.4 seconds twice and 5.3 once before I decided that maybe the police were dispatched.

I believe the 8 series is one of the best european cars ever built in the early 90's. Its looks are way ahead of their time! Has anyone noticed the new 3 series roof and rear pillars are shaped more like the 8 series than the previous one? The 850 has a look and feel about it that not many other cars rival! I believe BMW has let us down in not releasing a new model. It seems they have styled the new 3 series to replace it? The new M3 is powerful but the sound and feel of a six is just not the same! The Z8 doesnt have the same prescence either. BMW designed and built a legend in my opinion. I believe the 8 series was not understood by many, only those who have a sense of quality . For some of us, being seen in a 3 series is like going to the mall with your grandmother! I own a red 94 850ci with hamman race wheels. I love it when I pull up to 3 series owners and bury my foot (Its amazing how much a quality 3" exhaust,chip,3.91 gears, high stall converter and a little weight reduction do for performance,my car pulls 13.4 1/4 mile 4.9 0-60 on the g-tech)I dont need to pry the badges off my car and stick M3 badges on it! The 850ci badge speaks for itself! I was dissapointed that BMW didnt make a new 8 series, it seems $$$$$ are more important these days, the 8 series never made a large enough profit for them, and to most new car buyers as long as it has a BMW badge on the hood, it will it do!!
I will probably keep my 850 for many years to come as I cannot find a better car for twice the price! I'll probably put a turbo on it next, to take care of any 911 turbo or viper that wants to race. The 850,in my opinion,is an amazing supercar, more comfortable and user friendly than a 348 ferrari(took them 50 years to put an auto in their cars),and with little modification as quick too. Everytime I take my car to the local BMW dealer and drive in the main entrance customers and managers stare in silence.
I hope BMW doesnt keep letting me down with their new models. If people start walking up to me in the street asking what is it(850), I may just have to trade it in for a VIPER, which seems to be more familiar to the chicks these days!WHAT DO YOU THINK? I LOOK FORWARD TO TOUR RESPONSES!

P.S. Does anyone out there have any 1/4 mile times on modified 850's? Mine seems to be very quick for the amount of mods, the gears and converter did heaps for the launch!
