I want to buy CSI wheels for my car after seeing a 96 840 m62 with these wheels. They were the 17" ones with the oval holes in them. I went to a BMW dealer and they described them as having a saw blade effect(what are they called in the states?)There wasnt any in stock so I couldnt look at one, but the spare parts guy said that the outside peice of the wheel comes seperate as a cover. Is this right? If so what do the rims look like underneath without the (sawblade) covers? He said 8" and 9" wide are available, but didnt know what size is fitted to a factory CSI. I suppose 8" front 9" for the rears. Is this right?
The wheels on mine are hamman 3pce. My car is a 94. Do the hammans on my car fit the 90-93 850? Just wondering because if I buy the Csi wheels($4000 a set w/o tyres)I will probably put the hammans for sale (I paid $8000 over here going back a year) and probably only a guy with a 90-92 will buy them because the 93 and on models in australia are very rare and still worth $85000(93) and over $100000 for a 94 and newer.( I bet your all thinking arent we glad we live in america!)Most 850 going on the market now are 91-92 for around $60000 and I figure I might be able to sell the hammans to someone buying one of these.
Just thought this might be interesting:
In australia our wages and property values etc are on par with the US. Cars are ridiculous in price! Imports from the US and europe are the worst because of our weak dollar. One aus dollar only buys 48 cents US! Read on: * 90-96 840 and 850 costed $220000 here when new!
* 2001 model M3 $150000 new price!
* 2001 996 twin turbo porsche $330000 new price!
* 95 M3 still selling for $65000!
* 91-92 850 selling for $65000-$80000!
* 93-94 850 selling for $95000-$120000!
* 91 348 ferrari selling for $150000!
* New Diablo vt $450000 new price!
Our wages are around the same as US, this means you cant buy a decent car on a decent wage over here like you can in the US! I choked when I found a 91 850 on the net in the US in immaculate condition seling for $16,500!You can barely buy a used toyota here for that price.
