Thanks Kurt...I'll also add that (depending on mileage) it is very worthwhile to rebuild the calipers. My car has 92K on the clock and although they were not in terrible shape, they definitely benefited from the rebuild. Rubber parts (seal and boot) are readily available aftermarket; unfortunately the pins bushings and clips required a trip to the local dealer. That added another $200 to the tally...it also accounted for at least half of the time spent.

Been a lurker for the last year, thought I'd jump in and provide an answer myself. I have always done most of my own maintenance on my vehicles (this is 5th BMW car, #4 and 5 BMW bikes are in the garage). The current mistress is a 1993 Diamond Schwarz over Parchment 'Ci with 6-speed.
