Mikael:I do have a Dinan chip on my 97 840CI and I can tell you that the figure those company talk about are BULL w/a capital B With a chip and K/N filter I at the most reach 300 hp now from 286
I whish it was that easy but it is a great marketing tools ,if you can get 3 to 5% than you are doing great.
Why make a 850SCI ,just take a regular 5.4 l with 326 trown in a chip and voila 386hp even more than the SCI.
if you believe that I will tell you another one.
take care .

Hi !

I know this has been discussed several times on this board,
but is there someone here that has actually driven a Conforti chiptuned 850i ( preferebly with autotranny, and nothing changed but the chip ) and can confirm this 40-50 hp increase, cause I find it a very cheap way ($400) to gain such power. ( The only chip I found in Sweden was from
a German manufacturer, gain: 20 hp, price: at least $850 !)

I just mean that in our Volvo V70 2.5 turbo ( the dogcar)
I can get an additional 45 hp by installing a $600 chip, but
it is as said a turbocar.

Normally you only get between 5-8% increase in a non-turbo car. Is it just so that BMW has detuned the potential in a "regular" 850i ? ( I think that most of us find 300hp
from a 5.0 liter v12 engine a bit on the low side,
considering that the 4.0 liter v8 has 286, ok we get the extra torque, but anyway... )

An increase of 15% sounds quite optimistic to me, but
Iīve read the dynometer tests on this board, and if everythings ok, itīs a great (cheap) way to boost the 850īs performance !

Oh, I almost forgot, is there any problem using this chip
in an European 850 ?

Kind regards Mikael
