Hi Steve and Raj,
In addition to many posts concerning many ideas for armrests, are many posts concerning the original armrest designed for our E31's. Laszlo in fact was in contact with BMW representatives who told him the parts were no longer available and no longer being made. Several other posters here have been investigating the manufacture of a fold up type mechanism to be attached to the E36 Armrest which is pretty much the same size and shape of the original design for the E31. No one has yet had the time or had the luck of finding the proper people qualified to design or make such a mechanism. Also, if you look at the 325 it also has a nice fold up armrest and mechanism that could conceivably be used with some changes being made to the bottom trim so that it would fit acceptably and not look obviously make do. There have been many ideas, but so far, none have been finalized or finished. Please join in the hunt so to speak, because the more people interested, the sooner we will finally get it accomplished.
Regards, Kurt
Anyone know of a good place to find a center armrest that'll fit on an 850i?
The factory part number(s) for the armrest are:
