This is just another piece of evidence that the press can be evil and not very thorough in its research and presentation of information which unfortunately many accept as truths.
It vexes me when I read an ignorant review of the 8-series from someone who MAYBE drove it for a few hours or days. To understand the full experience of this car, one must spend some quality time with it.
I am very satisfied with my E31. Furthermore, I've never had a negative comment from anyone with regards to its styling, or how it performs. What it can and is supposed to do it does well, and in great style.
No amount of defamation or printed ignorance can taint my opinions of the 8-series.
Did anyone catch the bad mouthing of the 8 series in this months Car and Driver (June 01)?
In a Dirt Road article (p. 26) about the new 1 and 6 series they write "BMW intends to arouse the long-dormant enthusiasm for the beloved 6-series coupe of 1976-1989. The company-along with most enthusiasts-has conviently forgotten the 8-series, a large and largely uninspiring coupe of the '90s."
Obviously they don't visit this board!
The press never did "get" the 8-series and never will.
Maybe BMW didn't spend enough on 8-series print advertisements to get a favorable review.
