I hope there are some 8’ owners on the board living in europe or even in germany.
The 850 Ci is classified as EURO 1 in the emission test in germany. From now on, the tax off all “EURO 1” cars is leveled from DM 13.20 to DM 21.20 (per 100 cm²). Well, we have about 5000 cm² , so, sum it up and you can see what the point is. Additionaly the tax will raise up to 29.60 DM/100 cm² in 2005!
Cars classified as EURO 2 will stay at 14.40 DM even in 2005.
Here are some questions:
What is the difference between EURO 1 and EURO 2 in technical terms?.
Is an upgrade from EURO 1 to EURO 2 possible?
I asked BMW in München the same question: They checked it but the answer was NO.
I asked the lokal dealer, the answer was NO, too. Has anyone else checked it up? Did you get the same results?

I read on the board there are special spec’s concerning emissions for some US-states, may be California ore others. And they are stronger than for euro-cars. What spec’s do US-850’s have?
Are there special converters or upgrade kits. What can they do?

Any hint is welcome,
thanks
Manfred
