I changed the bulbs of the instrument carrier this weekend. The bulbs illuminating the fuel gage and the engine temp gage where totally gone, and one bulb that illuminate the LCD Display was dead, too. There is a nice describtion in the archive how to do this. The problem occurred when I had to remove the instrument carrier from the dashboard. I had moved the steering wheel all the way down and out. But I didn’get the instrument out of that place. What a mess. At the end I rotated it and moved it forward so it was lying on the steering wheel. Then I turned the steering wheel with the instrument carrier to the left. In that position it was possible (with some moving and pushing) to slide it out to the left side. Ok, the part was out, but the wheel was now fixed in that position. I changed the bulbs and found out that there was no way to move the carrier back without breaking something. Nearly went mad: I mustn’t turn the key to release the wheel (“SRS” light problem!) and without moving the wheel I couldn’t get the guage pod back. The solution was (after a cup of coffee): - disconnect the batteries first (mass connection from both on the left side) - now put in the key and release the steering wheel - turn the steering wheel to the left - thread the guage pod in the wheel - turn the steering wheel back together with the guage pod - move the part into it’s place. Well, the rest is as described in the archive and was no problem. Ok, I nerved my neighbores with the alarm. Started immediately after reconnecting the batteries. I thought those who are thinking about doing the same should know that there are differences between cars and they could go into trouble even with a good description in the archive.
Good luck.
