Driving down the road a couple of days ago, I felt and heard a rattle that felt like it was somewhere directly below the gear selector on my 91 850 Euro. My sons were playing music in the back seats (yes, they are small, 6 and 3 and love it when they get to ride in "Daddy's car") so I ignored it for a little while. When it returned without them in the car, I stopped and looked underneath only to discover a plug hanging straight down between the converters on the right side of the tranny. The plug wire comes out with the two wires that connect to the O2 sensor plugs and I recently had the dealer change the sensors themselves trying to track down an OBC fault message "Catalyst Overheat" that comes up even before starting the car.

Since the plug has become disconnected, my cruise control does not function.

Does anyone know where this plug might go? I have been under the car and can see no obvious place that the plug came out of. I am afraid that is might attach somewhere on the top of the tranny housing but in the manual and the PM CD I can't find a diagram that shows me what I need to see. The only positive is now that I have been under the car in my own garage I feel that the car is truly mine :)

Sorry for being so windy, but it might help anyone trying to figure out where this plug goes.

I happy that I found this board and truly appreciate all the help you give 850 novices like me. E-mail or respond here if you have any ideas.

Thanks,

Jim M.
