I have had a number of cars with very little front clearance. I found out that the trick to negotiating steep transitions is to go through at a 45 degree angle. In other words, when you are going down a steep driveway that leads into a road, try to begin your turn way before the actual end of the driveway so that one front wheel is entirely on the road before the front wheel gets there. This works for either direction.
