By the way, almost none of the issues the dealer brought up had to do with the engine...his issues were heavily electronic related. Don't get me wrong, there are 12 plugs, 2 air filters, 2 fuel filters, 2 fuel pumps, 2 ignition coils, 2 distributors, etc. and little room to maneuver in there so it ain't cheap - but it is more than made up in smiles per mile!!

Call those same mechanics again and tell them you are looking at buying a 750 (same V12 engine a the 8). Im sure you will get a much different response from the 3 stooges.
I think there is a general prejudice against the 8-Series among mechanics because of the whole unknown and mysteriousness about it.
Those that are afraid to broaden their horizons at least...

today i called around to find a good mechanic to do my pre purchase inspection, and three out of five flat out told me to look for another car. are the 12 cyclinder that much trouble?........ after reading through the archives, the repairs looked basic for cars of these age. i'm confused! the damn car looks so good but i don't want it to become a money pit. to all you V12ers out there: do you guys encounter problems regularly( every week or month)?
