As you walk the water pump out of its bore (you got the screws I assume), make certain you're not pulling the larger of the two water return pipes with it. The pipe must stay attached to the rear water manifold. You don't want it to come free - getting it back together is a pain. The smaller pipe is not a concern. It will stay with the engine.
One other important caveat. The hose from the overflow tank to the pump fitting is held away from the alternator belt by a padded clamp. It's also flattened in shape to ensure it's not abraided by the drive belt. As you assemble this hose, make certain it has sufficient clearance away from the belt and is pushed against the cylinder block, otherwise the belt will saw the hose in two in a matter of hours.
You did get new hoses? They do have the green markings, including the "dot"?
