Also on the Rims, (I just went outside to confirm the size again) I have Michelin Piolet Sports
18" x 9.5 Rims with 245/40ZR18 Tires in the Front and 18" x 11" Rims with 285/35ZR18 Tires in the back.
I really like the handling with this combination not to mention that they look real good too as you saw. I definatly prefer the 18"s over the 17"s for Looks and Riding.
If your doing 245/40ZR18 on the front you can go with the wider rim because its better for pressure of the tires.
One thing I noticed about skinnier tires in the front is that when your riding on a road like the Cross Bronx Expressway that has allot of grooves and sunken in directional traffic sections of the tar, the skinnier tires dont seem to pull in the direction of the damaged road as much as the wider tires do. But besides that I don't see a big difference except having more traction on the front with the wider tire.
The Speedometor thing can go off a bit if your custom wheel height doesn't match the factory wheel height. So the only way to do that is to measure the factory recomended wheel height and when you buy your tires for your 18" make sure the profile equals the height of the BMW factory wheel.
Give me a call. Jaz
